This book attempts to examine the impact of seasonal migration in India, with special focus on the two tribal dominated districts of Jhabua and Alirajpur in Madhya Pradesh. With the semi-arid climatic zone, these districts have the huge share of tribal population, which are secluded and backward in terms of various socio-economic development indicators and used to migrate seasonally migrate from the decades in search of livelihood in better onearby regions. In fact, the seasonal migration from the tribal regions of the Madhya Pradesh is due to the push factor, which is generally of distress nature. Chronic poverty, unemployment, lack of livelihood opportunities and deprivation push them to migrate to better off regions. The nature of migration tells the whole story. The book looks at the seasonal migration pattern, determinants and its implications in in tribal India.
